Delay

Suppose you jump up and down extatically, because of all the happy announcements you’ve received. Such as the news that you passed your exam. But you’d rather have more control over those intense reactions of yours. If we delay such movements during a session, we have to go first of all to that moment just before you begin to jump. How does that moment feel? Instead of talking about your jumping, we experience the moment when you feel that you will receive good news. That is postponement. There’s a moment that you still have yourself under control, can still ‘keep it together’. That is that moment in which to experience what you can do, and from where you can decide what to do with your happiness at the good news. If you can than decide yourself to only laugh or shout, or maybe even to jump up and down, that’s just fine. Then you have your bodymanagement under control. This type of control is about ‘regulating’ and isn’t the same as suppressing! And the great thing is that it all happens by itself during a session.
